Request A Callback From An Investigator

How Long Does It Take to Become a Private Investigator?

Becoming a private investigator doesn't take nearly as long as it takes for individuals in law enforcement to become detectives. This is because a private investigator's job is restricted to the gathering of information and not law enforcement. There is no set length of time for how long it should take to become a private investigator. There are various factors that need to be considered and at the end of the day, it could take a few weeks or a few months.

How Long Do Private Investigator Courses Take?

There are various institutions that offer investigative training to individuals who wish to become private investigators. In many of these institutions, the duration of learning is quite flexible and will depend on how much time you're willing to commit.

Many people do the studies on a part-time basis and this usually means taking several months to complete the training course.

However, it's also possible to enrol on a full-time basis if you have the time and wish to complete the course as quickly as possible. In such a case, it will require a few weeks to finish the training course.

Many training centres also have distance-learning programs for people who would rather learn the work from the comfort of their homes. The time it'll take to complete will be determined by how much time you can commit. To take the exam for the IQ Level 3 Award, you'll need to undertake a total of 31 guided learning hours and an additional 22 hours should be spent on learning related activities including assessment. However, this time is only for the compulsory units. Some institutions may have courses that offer additional units.
