This is an unusual recipe on The Pioneer Woman Cooks, in that the detailed step-by-step photos don’t begin until halfway through the recipe. But I have a very valid reason for this! There’s not much in the world that isn’t made better by cornmeal. It adds graininess to muffins and breads, it adds flavor and thickness to soups (just dissolve in a little water and pour into the pot, then simmer 10-15 more minutes), and it takes ordinary pancakes and turns them into beautiful yellow little miracles.
